WHAT WE DO
Prison Congregations of America is committed to stewarding the vision God gave Pastor Ed Nesselhuf by forwarding PCA’s mission with the utmost integrity and highest level of fiscal responsibility.
As a small nonprofit with a national focus, it is essential that PCA use strategic wisdom in allocating resources so that the vision of establishing a stable and sustainable church in every prison in America will someday be realized. To that end, we are continually seeking ways to improve the efficacy of the organization’s structure and operations. For example, in order to more efficiently manage our national footprint, we are expanding the use of technology to reduce travel costs. Equally important, in an effort to minimize administrative expenditures as much as possible while also providing maximum substance to those interested in exploring the idea of a planting prison congregation, PCA encourages contact with our amazing network in order to get a real feel for what it means to serve incarcerated congregates. There may be a congregation near you that you can visit, with the pastor and facility’s approval.
PCA’s network of denominational mission developers, prison congregation pastors, and volunteers who have “been there and done that” in terms of establishing and maintaining communities of faith on the ground inside prisons are an invaluable resource to anyone who is called to plant a prison congregation. Please go to the “Network of PCA” tab to access this exceptional group of folks dedicated to developing and equipping communities of faith both inside and outside prisons for justice-involved men and women. Partnering with PCA and joining in the spirit of this community is not necessary to plant a church inside a prison - however, we believe you will find our collective knowledge and experience extremely helpful as you discern a call to this particular population.
