There are nearly two million men, women, and juveniles incarcerated in nearly 5,000 prisons, jails, and detention facilities in the United States.

In Luke Chapter 14 verses 18-19, Jesus tells the people of Nazareth, “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to do the same. There are many ways you can serve
Prison Congregations of America’s Mission:

• Volunteer inside one of our prison congregations by joining the men and women for worship or weekly Bible study

  • We often hear from volunteers that they get so much more from their time inside than they give. It is truly a life-changing experience.

• Become an advocate for men and women who are being released

  • Partnering with re-entry programs and providing resources to those who are re-entering society is crucial for the men and women to succeed. You can be a guiding light by offering your time and guidance.

• Write letters to your state representatives

  • Educating our government leaders is key to ensuring men and women in prison are treated with fairness and compassion. PCA is dedicated to giving those in prison a space where they can worship God in a community of believers while incarcerated and after release.

• Donate to PCA

  • Your tax-deductible donation is used to fund our operating costs, allowing us to partner with prisons and denominations across the country to plant congregations and to support our existing prison pastors and congregations.
