A Prison Thank You

May 21, 2016 at 6:17 PM

This week’s blog is a letter we received from an inmate in Montana.  This inmate had been in a PCA sponsored congregation at the prison in Deer Lodge and so had been given a Lenten Devotional booklet.  Since then, he was moved to a different prison.  He took it upon himself to write to us and ask us to send the devotional booklet to him in his new facility, as they had no congregation there.  The miracle is that this very prison has reached out to us and asked us to start a congregation behind the walls!  Little does this man know that soon he will be able to worship at a church of his own.  Your donations make this possible – thank you so much!!

I am writing to you today to thank you for sending me this year’s Lenten Devotional booklet along with your newsletters.

I really enjoyed reading this year’s Lenten Devotional booklet and some of the writings from your contributing authors touched my heart, soul and spirit in a way, I can’t put those feelings into words, while other writings helped me to remember certain things in my life and that I wasn’t aware at that time but God was with me even though I couldn’t see or feel his spirit at that place in time.

God is truly inescapable and inseparable in our lives plus God has blessed me in my life many times with new friends and friendships along with being with me through the good and the bad.  Since I fell away from God and he finally had me put in prison, I have finally come to terms with what I have done in my past life and even though I thought I knew God back then I didn’t know him at all.  These past years with the help of strangers and studying God’s word, I feel closer to him than I ever have before.

Thank you again for sending the booklet and newsletters to me this year.  May God bless all who work at Prison Congregations of America along with the wonderful work you all do in spreading the word of God.

In Christ,
